THE POWER OF FAMILY

Many of you know that my family adopted an older child from the foster care system and that I also worked at a private adoption agency placing children with forever families. You have heard my many true stories of heartbreak that these children face on a daily basis. Family is precious, and every one of the nearly 500 thousand children in the foster care system in the United States pray for a forever family to call their own.  At 18 most foster kids are booted to the streets when subsidy to the foster family stops. They have no life skills to survive; many become homeless and resort to measures that are not legal.

Now, that the Thanksgiving turkey is in the fridge and family members are out at the malls for “Black Friday” deals for Christmas. I wanted to share with you a story to get you into the real meaning of family Christmas and not just discounts and purchases. For 2 minutes and 41 seconds, I introduce you to a family that changed the life of an 18-year-old boy and his biological sister forever. This my friend is “LOVE.”
