The Message from God to His People

At the Annunciation, the first thing the angel Gabriel said to Mary was “Fear not!” What an opening statement! I do not think it is a coincidence that the Scriptures use the phrase “fear not” 365 times, one for each day of the year. That is a pretty important message God wants us to take to heart as He did Mary.

The world has experienced a lot of turbulence and unrest. We have more refugees searching for safety than ever in history, terroristic attacks are increasing around the globe, division and strife seem to be everywhere. We will have some changes coming in 2017, and many people are scared about all the unknowns, but there is one thing we must remember with absolute certainty, and that is, God never lies nor abandons His people. He has given us the message of do not be afraid over and over again. The very meaning of Christmas is God is with us, and if God is with us, what are we to fear?

Many of us are grieving this Season over the loss of a loved one or separated from the one we love due to illness or other reasons.  The reality of losing a loved one or having to be separated for whatever the reasons during the Holiday’s can give us anxiety and concern about our mortality. These are some of the moments we need to pick up the scriptures and recite the Angel Gabriel’s words to Mary as words to our souls, “do not be afraid for God is with us” and let the phrase melt into our dark corners, shedding light and peaceful resolve.

May this Season bring you comfort, inner peace, and joy in places you never expected and may you share the gift of love with all you encounter. From my family to your,

MERRY CHRISTMAS
